Mechanical and Thermal Expansion Properties of 2-D Cf/Mg Composites
-
Abstract
Two dimensional carbon fiber fabric reinforced magnesium matrix composites were prepared by squeeze casting technology, and their basic properties were studied. The results show that the mechanical properties are improved efficiently because of the introduction of two dimensional fabrics. The bending strength achieved 414 MPa,and plastic module achieved 59.65 GPa.The composites’ mechanical properties are symmetric in radial and latitudinal directions. The thermal expansion coefficients of composites are reduced efficiently by carbon fiber fabric. The thermal expansion coefficient was only 5.59×10-6/℃ from 20℃ to 200℃ after heat treatment, and it is lower greatly than that of matrix magnesium alloy.
