Friction and Wear Characteristics of 38CrSi Alloy under Self-pair Rubbing Conditions

    • By using self-made dry sliding friction pin-disk tester the friction coefficient and wear rate changed with the speed and load of 38CrSi under self-pair rubbing conditions were investigated. With the help of SEM,the morphology of worn surfaces was observed and the friction and wear mechanism was evaluated. The results indicate that the friction coefficient decreased with the increase of load and sliding speed. The wear rate increased with the increase of load, and increased and then decreased with the increase of sliding speed, while the wear rate of common materials increased with the increase of sliding speed. The wear mechanisms are mainly abrasive wear and adhesive wear.
