Structure and Mechanical Properties of Polymer Blends of PA6 and ABS Compatibilized by SMA
-
Abstract
PA6/ABS(acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) blends compatibilized with styrene-maleic anhydride (SMA) were prepared in a corotating twin-screw extruder with different blending procedures. The influence of blending procedure on structure and mechanical properties was studied. The results show that the particle of PA6 phase had decrescent size and dispersed uniformly after the compatibilizer SMA added when the substrate was ABS.The impact and mechanical properties of the blends were improved greatly. The effect of blending procedure on the morphology and mechanical properties was obvious when the substrate was ABS and the dispersed phase was PA6.The particle size was minimum and the mechanical properties were best in (SMA/ABS)/PA6.And the effect was tiny as the substrate was PA6 and the dispersed phase was ABS.
