Effect of Damage Area on Shear Carrying Capacity of Composite Material Stiffened Wall

    • MTS multi-channel hydraulic servo valve system was applied in the shearing test for the impact damaged composite material stiffened wall used in aircraft to study the effect of damage area on the shear carrying capacity of the composite in the same location of visible impact damage. Result show that when the damage happened in the middle of the skin, every 15% increase of damage area decreased the shear load carrying ability by 11%.
