    Influence of Heat-treatment Technology on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Ultra-high Carbon Steel

    • The microstructure and mechanical properties of an ultra-high carbon steel (UHCS) containing 16wt% carbon were studied.The carbide in the forged state is spheroidized through the process of divorced-eutectoid transformation (DET) and fine carbide particles distributing dispersedly in ferrite matrix were formed.The following second heat treatment includeing normalizing and quenching with tempering make.The UHCS obtain excellent mechanical properties.The yield strength and tensile strength of UHCS are higher than those of 40CrNiMo,and the plasticity of UHCS is equal to that of 40CrNiMo.
