Microstructure and Properties of Ni-34%Cu-3.5%C Alloy

    • Ni-34%Cu-3.5%C alloy was melted using medium frequency induction furnace with argon shield. The microstructure and properties of the alloy with and without adding nodulizer were studied. The results show that the morphology of graphite was uniformly spherical with adding rare earth magnesium alloy after spheroidization. After hot-forged at 850 ℃, the alloy before and after spheroidization had the largest reduction rate of 68.96% and 39.34%. With adding nodulizer, the friction properties of the alloy increased. Through dry friction experiment against annealed 45 steel and GCr15 bearing steel, it was found that the friction coefficients of the alloy were 0.16 and 0.21. The friction surface was rather smooth.
