Effect of Ti on Electrochemical Behavior of ZA35 Alloy in Alkali Solution
-
Abstract
The open-circuit potential and polarization curve of ZA35 alloys with different Ti contents in NaOH solution were measured by means of electrochemical workstation for the effect of element Ti on electrochemical corrosion of ZA35 alloy in combination with their microstructure and surface morphology after corrosion. Results show that the open-circuit potential of alloys declined with increase of the temperature of NaOH solution. The open-circuit potential of ZA35-0.1Ti alloy was higher than that of other ZA35 alloys at the same temperature. The alloys were dissolved during weak polarization and passivated during strong polarization. The corrosion resistance of ZA35-0.1Ti alloy was improved obviously, compared with that of ZA35 alloy. The corrosion current density of ZA35-0.1Ti alloy was 46% lower than that of ZA35 alloy during weak polarization.
