Effects of Heat Treatment on Microstructure and Performance of GH2132 Alloy Containing Nb
-
Abstract
The effects of heat treatments on the microstructure and mechanical properties of forged GH2132 alloy were studied by optical microscopy and mechanical property testing. Results show that the forging followed by cooling in air had the same effect as solid solution. The forged alloy had the higher strength and the smaller grains after aging than after solid solution and aging. The solid solution temperature was the main cause of affecting tensile strength and yield strength. The lower the solid solution temperature, the higher the strength and the smaller the grain size. The aging after forging can help the GH2132 alloy get high tensile strength and low impact energy; the GH2132 alloy after solid solution at high temperature followed by aging can get secondary high tensile strength and relatively high impact energy.
