Friction and Wear Properties of La2O3-Mo5Si3/MoSi2 Composites Against Steels under Oil Lubrication
-
Abstract
Friction and wear properties of 0.8%La2O3-5%Mo5Si3/MoSi2 composites against different steels were determined by a friction and wear tester under oil lubrication. The worn-out surface was observed by using scanning electron microscopy, and the wear mechanism was discussed. The results show that the friction coefficient was below 0.1 when the composite grinding with quenched and tempered 45 steel, quenched steel and CrWMn steel, and the wear rate of composites was below 10-3 mm3·min-1. The friction coefficient and wear rate when composites grinding with CrWMn steel were the lowest. The wear mechanism of the composites grinding with quenched and tempered 45 steel and quenched steel was abrasive wear, and when grinding with CrWMn steel, the wear mechanism was abrasive wear and spot corrosion.
