Abstract

The cracking failure of 1Cr17 stainless steel washer roller was investigated by means of OM,SEM and EDS.The results show that the property was intergranular stress corrosion cracking.Second phase in the cracking grain boundary was the internal cause of the roller cracking.The Cr content in the base metal was low,which decreased the corrosion-resistance and toughness of the material.Stress in the cracking position was the external cause.
