    In-plane Compressive Properties of Mild Steel Honeycomb Sandwich

    • The Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio of steel honeycomb sandwich were measured by resistance strain gauge,and the compressive stress-strain curves were plotted.The results show that the Poisson’s ratios approached 1.0 for honeycomb core without facings,decrease to 0.33-0.39 for honeycomb panels with facings,and varies inversely with the face thickness.The errors of Young’s modulus between measurements and calculations are less than 7%,but the errors of peak compress strength reache 0.6%-32%.The Young’s modulus and peak compressive strength are influenced by face thickness and core thickness,both of them increase with face thickness and decrease with core thickness,but cell wall thickness and cell side length have little effect on them.
