    Preparation of In-situ Particulate Reinforced Magnesium Matrix Composites with Thermal Explosion Reaction

    • Thermal explosion of Mg-TiO2-B2O3 system was applied to prepare in-situ particulate reinforced magnesium matrix composite.The thermodynamics,DTA,XRD and SEM analyses were performed.The thermal explosion could spontaneously occur at the temperature of melting magnesium when the addition of magneium in the Mg-TiO2-B2O3 system was less than 70%mass and at the sametime the in-situ particulates of TiB2 and MgO were synthesized.The tensile strength and Brinell hardness of magnesium matrix composites prepared from 5%mass Mg-TiO2-B2O3 system were higher than those of magnesium matrix by about 26% and 32% separately.
