    Wear Comparison of Different PCBN Cutter in Interrupted Dry Turning of ADI

    • Austempering ductile iron (ADI) was turned in interrupted dry style using polycrystalline cubic boron nitride(PCBN) cutter with two kinds of brands of DBW85 and DBC50, and the life and wear of the two kinds of cutters were studied. The results show that the life of DBW85 cutter with higher content cubic boron nitride(CBN) was higher than that of the DBC50 cutter with lower content CBN, and the lift advantage was more obvious with the higher of the turning speed. The main wear mechanism of DBW85 cutter was abrasive wear, adhesion diffusion wear and DBC50 cutter was micro chipping, adhesion diffusion wear.
