Microstructure and Wear Properties of TiNp/Mn13 Composites
-
Abstract
TiN ceramic particles reinforced Mn13 based composites were fabricated by V-EPC cast-penetration. The microstructure and interface combination status between TiN particles and the matrix of the composites were analyzed by optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The impact wear tests were performed on the composites with different TiN volume fractions and matrix under variable loads. The results show that when the TiN volume fraction of the mixture powder coating was 27% or 36%, the TiN particles distributed uniformly in the composites and had metallurgical bonding with the matrix. Comparing with the Mn13 steel, the composites had better impact wear resistance under impact load. The impact wear resistance of the composites could be ensured under low and middle load for the synergistic effect of high hardness of TiN and work hardening of the matrix.
