Effect of Friction Parameters with Current on Arc Rate and Current-Carrying Tribological Properties

Abstract
A Cu-based composite with graphite content of 10wt% was prepared by pressure sintering method, and then the current carrying friction and wear experiments were carried out on a self-made pin-disk tester with a friction pair composed of the composite and QCr0.5 copper alloy, and the effects of friction velocity and current density on arc rate, current-carrying efficiency and tribological properties. The worn surface morphology of the composite was observed. The results show that, with the increase of current density, the arc rate and wear rate of the composite increased, but friction coefficient and current-carrying efficiency decreased. The arc rate, friction coefficient and wear rate increased gradually and current-carrying efficiency reduced gradually with the increase of friction velocity. With the increase of current density and friction velocity, the surface erosion of the composite became serious and its surface become rougher.
