Effects of Sintering Technique and Amount of Carbon Addition on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Mo2FeB2 Based Cermets
-
Abstract
The Mo2FeB2 based cermets were prepared by reaction sintering method. The effects of sintering technique and amount of carbon addition on microstructure and mechanical properties of the Mo2FeB2 based cermets were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).The results show that with the increase of carbon addition, hardness and flexural strength of the cermets both first increased and then decreased.Mo2FeB2 based cermets with complete density and good mechanical properties could be obtained when the amount of carbon addition was 0.5wt%,soaked at 1 100 ℃ for 60 min and subsequently sintered at 1 280 ℃ for 60 min.The flexural strength could reach to 1 176 MPa.
