Effects of Heating Treatment on Friction and Wear Properties of Novel High Aluminum Bronze Alloy

    • A multicomponent aluminum-bronze alloy was prepared by adding some elements(such as Ni, Fe, Mn) based on the Cu-Al alloy and then being casted in metal mold. The effect of heat treatment of solid solution and aging treatment on friction and wear properties of the alloy was studied by scanning electron microscopy and friction and wear testing. The results show that the alloy was composed mainly of α, β′, γ2 and κ phases after solid solution at 950 ℃ for 2 hours and aging at 550 ℃ for 4 hours, γ2 and κ phases distributed in the matrix, which increased the alloy′s hardness and tensile strength and decreased the alloy′s plasticity. Comparing with the cast alloy, the alloy in solid-solution and aging state had lower wear mass loss and friction coefficient, and had good wear resistantance under the same conditions.
