Effect of Surface Treatment of SiC Particles on Properties of SiC/Cu Composites
-
Abstract
SiC particles were calcined at 1 100℃ in air atmosphere for 6 h to obtain oxidized SiC particles and then immersed in aqueous solution of 5% hydrofluoric acid for 24 h to attain acid-etched SiC particles.Cu coated SiC composite powders were prepared by heterogeneous precipitation coated method and hot pressing sintering was used to prepare SiC/Cu composites with 35vol% SiC particles. The microstructure and properties of the composites were analyzed. The results show that compared with the composites prepared with original SiC particles, the composites made by high-temperature oxidations and acid-etched SiC particles exhibited different interfacial bonding states with the increase of strength and hardness. The composites made by acid-etched SiC particles had the highest strength and the highest hardness.
