    Determination and Application of Surface Temperature Field on HSS Hot Work Roll

    • According to the actual boundary condition of work roll in hot rolling strip production,a mathematical model for numerical simulating the temperature field of high speed steel (HSS) and high-Cr work roll was established with ANSYS finite element software,and the surface temperature fields between them were compared.The results show that the calculated values were in good agreement with the measured data of roll surface temperature after rolling.With the same parameters of rolling and cooling system,it was found that the surface temperature of HSS roll was higher than that of the high-Cr roll.And because the friction coefficient and thermal conductivity of HSS roll were higher than that of high-Cr roll,which made the maximum surface temperature of HSS roll was about 65 ℃ higher than that of high-Cr roll after one cycle,its temperature reached 582.5 ℃.Based on application of HSS roll in hot strip mill,the cooling system parameters those of HSS roll were optimized,which could keep its temperature below 65 ℃ after rolling.
