Finite Element Prediction of Elastic Constant of Fabric Reinforced Composites

Abstract
According to geometrical characteristic parameters, the representative volume element geometric models of fabric reinforced composites with different ways of weaving were constructed using the three-dimensional crimp model. On the basis of the definition of macroscopic effective modulus of composite materials, the fabric reinforced composite mesoscopic stress field was calculated and the engineering elastic constants were predicted under the conditions of six groups of independent homogeneous strain boundary. The results show that the finite element predicted results were identical with the experimental results, verifying the effectiveness of the prediction method.
