Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Explosive Clad Plates of 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel and Q345 Low Alloy Steel

Abstract
Explosive clad plates of 2205 duplex stainless steel and Q345 low alloy steel were prepared by explosive composite method. And the microstructure, element diffusion and mechanical properties of explosive clad plates were systematically analyzed by optical microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, mechanical property testing. The results show that a wave-like interface in the explosive clad plate was found with a disfussion layer of 5-20 μm thickness. The brittleness of the prepared explosive clad plate increased as well as the shearing strength. The fibrous microstructure appeared on the interface near the Q345 low alloy steel and the corresponding micro-hardness increases by 41.83% compared with that of the substrate. However, the flying-lined microstructure displayed on the interface around the 2205 duplex stainless steel with the micro-hardness increasing by 18.31% in comparison with that of the cover plate.
