    Properties of Low Yield Point Steels Used for Earthquake Resistant Buildings

    • With the application of earthquake resistant energy dissipation (ERED) technology to skyscrapers,low yield point (LYP)steels used for the fabrication of energy dissipation dampers are paid more and more attention.Bao Steel has developed a series of LYP steels with yield strength grade of 100,160 and 225 MPa.The properties of LYP steels such as tensile properties,physical properties,weldability and workability etc.were analyzed.The results show that LYP steels produced by Bao Steel had the features of small fluctuation range of yield strength,low yield ratio,and good toughness,low cycle fatigue and weldability.The LYP steel had been applied into earthquake resistant buildings successfully.
