Preparation of Cu/C Composite Powders by High-energy Ball Milling and Static Consolidation of the Powders
-
Abstract
The powder mixture consisting of Cu and graphite was separately mechanically alloyed by high energy ball milling. After milling, the powders were statically consolidated under the pressure of 1.5 GPa.The microstructure of the powders and the consolidated samples were investigated by a JSM-5600LV scanning electronic microscope. The phases of the mechanically alloyed composite powders were analyzed by XRD.The density and hardness of the consolidated samples were studied. The powder particles became finer with the increasel of the content of C and prolongation of the milling time. The hardness of the consolidated samples varied with the content of C and the milling time,it decreased with the increasing content of C and increased with the milling time which reached a maximum at 24 h.
