Finite Element Analysis of Honeycomb Sandwich in Pull-off Damage

Abstract
The mechanism of honeycomb sandwich in pull-off damage was analysed by the finite element simulation. And the verification was carried out by experiment to the simulating resluts. The results show that it was precise to forecast the failure progress of the pull-off honeycomb sandwich by using Usdfell program. And it was the shear failure of the honeycomb adjacent to the potting material that decided the failure of the whole structure. The shear failure damage led to the deformation of the material, which resulted in the damage of matrix of the composite panel. The fiber tensile failure did not occur in the whole process. And simulating results fitted well with experimental results.
