Effect of Sintering Procedure on Microstructure of Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 Glass-ceramics

    • Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 (LAS) glass-ceramics are widely used to manufacture heating equipment because of its advantages such as low expansion, excellent mechanical properties and high heat resistance.LAS were prepared via sintering method, using some chemical regents as raw materials. The crystallization process of LAS system glass-ceramic was analyzed by means of DTA.Phase composition and microstructure were investigated by XRD and SEM.The influence of temperature on the major crystalline phase and crystallite size was discussed. The results show that the major crystalline phase of the glass-ceramics is β-quartz when the sample was crystallized below 940 ℃ and the major crystalline phase of the sample was β-spodumene when the crystallization temperature was above 940 ℃.The sintering at 1 120 ℃ and the crystallization at 1 170 ℃ are the best. The crystallite size is 05-3 μm.
