Formation Cause of Cold Bending Crack of Container Plate Manufactured by Continuous Casting and Rolting

    • A continuous casting and rolling container plate performed good mechanical properties and uniform fine grain, but the thick container plate (≥3.5 mm) was easy to crack in the cold bending test. The cold bending crack specimens were observed by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy and the formation causes of crack were analyzed. The results show that the cold bending crack was caused by subcutaneous microcrack in hot rolling plate, and this subcutaneous microcrack came from casting blank, the cause was in relation to copper element enrichment.
