Isothermal Precipitation of TiC in Low Carbon Micro-alloyed Steel

    • The isothermal precipitation (PTT) curves of TiC in 0.088%Ti micro-alloyed steel were tested by resistance measurement and TEM observation, the precipitation behaviors were analyzed. The results show that the largest precipitation rate of TiC was in the temperature range of 530-630 ℃ in γ→α transformation. In the condition of high temperature solid solution and isothermal precipitation, TiC precipitated as needle shape in austenite while as interphase or dispersive precipitation in ferrite. The best precipitation strengthening was found when TiC isothermally precipitated at 530-630 ℃.
