Abstract
SPCC steels and 5052 aluminum alloy were respectively jointed by segmented die clinched joint equipment, and then the ension-shear tests for clinched joints of the two materials were conducted, and fatigue test at different load levels were performed. The results show that at the action of tension-shear load, the aluminun alloy clinched joint fractured at neck of joint, the steel clinched joint also fractured at neck of the joint and the upper sheet was separated from the lower sheet simultaneously. The tension-shear strength of joints was mainly determined by the strength of necks. The clinched joints of different materials had favorable fatigue properties. A visual fatigue crack was found at the edge of blind hole in the steel clinched joint, perpendicular to the loading direction, and the failure appearing at the region of joints. The fatigue life of steel clinched joints at 0.75Fs was over 5 million cycles and that of aluminum alloy clinched joint at ervery load levels was more than 2 million cycles.
