Mechanical Properties of Glass Fiber Reinforced Unsaturated Polyester Based Composites

    • Unsaturated polyester based composite reinforced by 20wt% continuous glass fiber and 10wt% short-cut glass fiber was prepared by mould pressing process, and the effect of fiber type on the mold pressing process and mechanical properties of the composite was studied. Unsaturated polyester based composite reinforced by 30wt% continuous fiber was also prepared for comparising. The results show that the tensile and bending properties of the composite reinforced by continuous glass fiber and short-cut fiber decreased a little, but the mould pressing process performance and the compressive property increased, and the glass fiber was uniform, crosswise and dispersedly distributed in the composite comparing with the unsaturated polyester based composite reinforced by continuous fiber.
