Friction and Wear Properties with Electrical Current of Graphite/Copper Composites
-
Abstract
Graphite/copper composites were prepared by cold-press sintering method using 150 μm graphite powders with and without copper plating respectively. The friction and wear properties with electrical current of the composites were studied using a pin-disc testing machine, and the worn surface was analyzed by SEM. The results show that within the studied range, the friction coefficient of the composites decreased effectively by using copper-plating graphite, but the effect of copper-plating on wear resistance was not obvious The friction coefficient of the composites decreased with the increase of graphite content. The wear rate of the composite was the lowest when graphite content was 10wt%.
