Abstract
The water atomized iron powders were mixed with different lubricant contents.Green compacts were pressed by both room-temperature and warm compaction, and the temperature of warm compaction was 130 ℃.The green and sintered densities and spring-back were measured. Results show that a proper lubricant content can improve the flow rate of the powder and reduce the friction between the powder and the die wall, leading to a higher green density and sintered density. There is an optimum lubricant content about 0.4wt%.In addition, warm compaction could also reduce the spring-back and ejection force, and obviously improve the green density and sintered density. The maximum green density and sintered density of room-temperature compact were 689 and 7.10 g·cm-3,but the warm compact increased to 7.06 and 7.26 g·cm-3.
