    Interfacial Structure of SiC Joints Welded by Iron

    • Joining of reaction bonded SiC was performed by high temperature brazing using a filler mainly composed of Fe with technological parameters of welding temperature 1 250 ℃,dwell time 3 minutes and cooling rate 5 ℃/min,interlayer thickness 0.6 mm.SEM studies revealed that the interface microstructure was SiC/reaction layer 1/reaction layer 2/reaction layer 1/SiC and the adjacent interfaces were occluded together.The main products in reaction layer contained Fe3Si,FeSi and SiC.The bending test showed that the fracture of the joint mainly in SiC ceramic and a little in reaction layers.
