    Accelerating Mechanism of Nickel during Synthesis of WC Powders

    • The mixed powders of W,active carbon and Ni were ball milled and the resultants were analyzed by XRD,SEM and chemical analysis.The results show that WC could be synthesized largely under the conditions of the content of Ni being 5wt%,the ratio of ball to material being 30∶1 and the millingtime being 50 h,and there only existed a little W and C that did not react.If there was no Ni in the reactants,there still was plenty of W and C after 50 h milling and the quantity of WC was small.It can be concluded that Ni can shorten synthesis time of WC and increase reaction velocity.
