Flower-Like Nano MoS2 Powders Prepared by Hydrothermal Method and Its Tribological Properties

Abstract
Flower-like nano MoS2 powders were prepared by hydrothermal method at 200 ℃ for 24 h using Na2MoO4·2H2O as the molybdenum source and thiourea (CH4N2S) as the sulfur source. The structure and formation mechanism were investigated by means of FE-SEM, EDS and XRD. The tribological properties of the base oils with the commercial micron and prepared nanometer MoS2 were analyzed through friction and wear tests. The results show that the products were flower-like nano MoS2 with hexagonal structure, and composed of a number of nano-flakes with diameter of about 500 nm and thickness of about 10 nm. The base oil with nano MoS2 had better lubricating properties than the one with the commercial micron MoS2.
