Damping Capacity of Ni50Ga27Fe17Co6 Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloy

Abstract
The correlations between damping capacity and strain amplitude,frequency and temperature of the Ni50Ga27Fe17Co6 ferromagnetic shape memory alloy (FSMA) were investigated using low frequency torsion pendulum.The results show that when the strain amplitude was smaller than 7.5×10-5 the damping capacity of the Ni50Ga27Fe17Co6 alloy was determined by frequency,when the strain amplitude was larger than 7.5×10-5 it was determined by strain amplitude.The prepared alloy had high damping capacity with a maximum value of 0.11 as the two phases of marternsite and austenite coexisting with the strain complitude of 5×10-5 and the frequency of 0.1 Hz.
