Preparation of SiC Particle Reinforced Steel-matrix Surface Composite Material by V-EPC Infiltration

Abstract
Using presetting methods of coated preform,SiC particle reinforced steel matrix surface composites were prepared by vacuum evaporative pattern casting(V-EPC) infiltration.The influences of SiC particle sizes on the composite quality were studied.The appropriate SiC particle sizes of 600-850 μm could be used to prepare good quality surface composites on the steel surface.The composite layer thickness is 4 mm.The sizes of SiC particles affect the quality of SiC particle reinforced steel matrix surface composite remarkably.With the increasing of SiC particle volume fraction,the surface quality of composites made with suppressed perform method decrease.
