Influence of Carbon Content on Crack Sensitivity of TiC/Ni Coatings Prepared by In-situ Fabrication through Laser Cladding

    • In order to decrease the crack sensitivity of TiC/Ni coatings prepared by in-situ fabrication through laser cladding, the effect of carbon content on crack senstivity of the coating was studied by optical microscope, scanning electronic microscope and X ray diffraction. The results indicated that the microstructure of the coatings can be improved and the crack sensitivity of coatings can be reduced through decreasing carbon content in the coatings. When the mass ratio of graphite and titanium powders was 1∶5,coatings without cracks were obtained.
