Effect of γ Irradiation on the Friction-wear Properties of PEK-C

Abstract
The effect of γ irradiation on the friction-wear properties of polyetherketone with cardo group (PEK-C) was studied with a model MM-200 friction and wear tester.The morphology of worn surfaces and wear debris of PEK-C was observed by SEM.The anti-wear performance of PEK-C deteriorated after being γ irradiated.With the increasing radiation dose,the friction coefficient of PEK-C was almost invariable,but the wear rate of PEK-C increased.The size of wear debris of the PEK-C composites being radiated was bigger than that of normal PEK-C composites.This was corresponding to the degree of wear of PEK-C.
