Effects of Rapid Heating Process on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Cold Drawn Pearlitic Steel Wires

    • In order to study the effects of hot galvanizing on microstructure and mechanical properties of cold drawn pearlitic steel wires,a Gleeble 1500 hot simulation tester was used to heat rapidly the steel wires to different temperature (from 250 ℃ to 650 ℃), and then cooled the wires at the same speed. The microstructure and mechanical properties of steel wires in cold drawn state and after rapid heating to different temperature and cooling were studied. The results show that the proportion of discontinued cementite particles gradually increased with the increase of heating temperature, the tensile strength, hardness and elongation of the steel wire increased gradually first and then decreased, the maximun were 1 915 MPa, 503 HV and 8.36%, respectively, and the corresponding temperature was 350 ℃,350 ℃ and 450 ℃. When the rapid heating temperature was 450 ℃, the steel wire showed good comprehensive mechanical properties.
