Development and Performance of New-Style Binder Used for TiH2 Powder Injection Molding
-
Abstract
A new-style wax-based binder was developed to use for TiH2 powder injection molding, the compatibility between binder components was calculated, and the rheological and debinding properties of the binder were analyzed. The results show that the compatibility between new-style binder components was good for mixing with TiH2 powders, and the loading of TiH2 powders was over 70vol%. Rheological performance of the binder was good and stable, its viscosity and viscosity fluid energy was 0.081 Pa·s and 36.85 kJ·mol-1 under the conditions of 160 ℃ and shear rate of 125 s-1. Compared with ordinary wax-based binder, the debinding ratio of new-style binder increased by 20%-30% during the same time when normal heptane was used for debinding under the same process conditions. Skim billets presented little flaws and good shape-holding. Compared with raw powders, the carbon content after thermal debinding increased by 0.02% only, and oxygen and nitrogen contents reduced.
