High Temperature Property Comparison for Two New Hot Work Die Steels

The microstructure of SDCM3 and SDCM4 steels before and after the thermal stability test was studied using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. A comparative study on the thermal fatigue preperty of SDCM3 and SDCM4 steels was performed by the self-restricting test method. The results show that SDCM3 steel had better thermal-stability and resistance to thermal fatigue compared with SDCM4 steel.
