    In-situ Synthesis of (Ti,W)C Reinforced Iron Matrix Composites by Powder Metallurgy

    • (Ti,W)C/Fe composite was in-situ synthesized by sintering compact of mixed titanium ,iron ,ferrotungsten and carbon powders .The microstructure of composite was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction.The results show that the composite consiste of α-Fe,Fe3W3C,(Ti,W)C and TiC.(Ti,W)C particles Are spherical with the size below 1 μm.The Rockwell hardness of the composite is 59 HRC.The wear-resisting property of the composite is 5-6 times of high-chromium cast-iron.
