Microstructure of High Velocity Arc Sprayed Fe-based/Cr3C2 Composite Coatings

    • Fe-based/Cr3C2 composite coatings were prepared using core wires and high velocity arc spraying(HVAS)technology.Their microstructure and phase compositions were investigated by SEM,TEM and XRD.The results showed that the coatings were well bonded to the substrate, and showed dense lamellar structure, fine grains, low porosity and high hardness. In the coatings there existed complex compounds, including base phases like α-Fe,main reinforcement phases like (Fe,Cr)23C6 and (Fe,Cr)7C3,and oxidation phases like FeCr2O4 and Cr2O3.Some of the phases had parallel crystal relationship.
