Room Temperature and High Temperature Tensile Properties of in situ Synthesized (TiB+TiC)/Ti-6Al-4V Composites

    • (TiB+TiC) reinforced Ti-6Al-4V composites and the matrix alloy were in situ synthesized. After forging and heat-treatment, the room temperature and high temperature tensile tests for samples were carried out, and their microstructure and fracture morphology were analyzed. Results show that the room-temperature tensile strength of composites was higher than that of matrix alloy, and increased with the increase of the content of the reinforcements. Meanwhile the elongation decreased with the increase of the content of the reinforcements. Composites showed a higher tensile strength at high temperature. When temperature was higher than 500 ℃, the strengthening effect of reinforcements dropped. And the effect of the matrix microstructure on strength decreased with the temperature increase.
